Journalism Distance Education
Distance education which is also referred as distance learning is one of the various fields of education that emphasizes on the technology and also the instructional systems whose sole aim is to impart education to students who are not capable of actually being present on the location.
Instead of attending the courses personally, students and teachers can converse at their own times which can be decided using printed media like fax or electrical media like e-mails, sms etc, or also by the use of other methods that allows them to converse in real time and also by using other online methods. A distance education lesson that requires a person to be physically present on the location for the reason of examination or any other purpose is considered as hybrid.
Journalism starts with Bachelor of journalism and mass communications (BJMC) which can be further extended to MJMC i.e masters of journalism and mass communication .The diploma courses offered are Freelance journalism, journalism and rural communication etc. Awadesh Pratap Singh University, Barkatullah University, Mahatma Gandhi Gramodaya Vishwavidyalaya, Nalanda Open University etc are some of the well known universities where these Journalism distance education courses are available. To pursue masters, bachelor’s degree and minimum experience of a year is necessary.
The duration of bachelors course is one year and masters course is also completed in a years time. Specialized Journalism, The art of News Writing, Editing and Presentation, Principles and methods of public Relations and Advertisement, Journalism – Present and Future, Communication Research, Dissertation & Viva-voce etc are some of the subjects covered in the course.
Tests are conducted on regular basis with the help of technology like emails, cdroms, pocketpc etc.Student are expected to attend all the tests conducted. It provides students who work while they pursue education a platform to follow their dreams with minimal hindrances.
